Buff weighed 1114 pounds while Villa tipped the scales at 110 pounds. The knockout came after twenty-seven seconds of fighting in the eleventh round. Villa scored two knockdowns in the tenth round and then began pummeling Buff with both hands. He rushed Buff to the ropes and chased him across the ring. Buff was reeling when Villa landed his left on the head and sent the American bumping to the floor.
At the start of the eleventh round Buff was defenseless with grogginess. Villa led in the first three rounds and draw blood from Buff's mouth, Buff retiring until the third and fighting in the open with Villa landing most of the damaging blows.
